4th Album Mystery

What is going to be on Taylor Swift’s fourth album? This question circulates faster than wildfire whenever there are any hints, and in my opinion, we have just been given another.
Recently, the Washington Post quoted Taylor Swift with the following:
“I think my goal for the next couple of years would be to make departures in little ways and do things a little differently,” said the Grammy-winning singer, “and try to maintain a balance between always providing your fans with what they’ve always liked from you and continuing to write all my own songs, but I’d love to make collaborations in different directions that aren’t exactly expected.”
I think this says a lot.

First and foremost, it reaffirms Taylor’s previous statements about the album being very sad when she says she would like to do things a little differently. Several themes have run throughout her albums such as love, fury, revenge, and nostalgia, but rarely do we ever see sadness. Our first editorial on this topic discusses that aspect of the album more in depth.
Second, it strongly hints at more collaborations.
During the Speak Now World Tour, Taylor invited out TWENTY TWO different artists to sing duets with her for her fans, beginning with Justin Bieber, and ending with James Taylor (Watch all 22 videos). She loves being able to introduce her fans to other artists and their music, and perhaps will be taking her love of other artists to another level with this upcoming album.
Recently, gossip sites went crazy when Taylor was spotted with the guys from Parachute, with speculation that Taylor was dating Parachute front man, Will Anderson. The thing is though, Taylor wasn’t just spending time with Will. She is seen in photos with the entire band. I believe they are recording or have recorded a collaboration for Taylor’s next album.
WHAT WE KNOW
  • Taylor has already RECORDED 25 new songs
  • Most of them have been written alone without a co-writer
  • It will be released in about a year
  • Taylor has been writing A LOT more now than she has in the past
  • A lot of the songs she’s recorded already will be ones she wants on the finalized album

Taylor's 2012 Resolution

If Taylor Swift stays true to her New Year’s resolutions, the meat of 2012 will resemble the end of 2011. The singer has touched on the new music that she’ll release next year and says that working with other artists is a goal for future projects.

“I’d love to make collaborations in different directions that aren’t exactly expected,” Swift tells the Associated Press. Her Speak Now Tour attracted no shortage of talent, especially from outside the country music genre. Nelly, Nicki Minaj, T.I. and Justin Bieber all joined her, as did Kenny Chesney, Ronnie Dunn, Tim McGraw and many more.

Swift’s new haircut may be indicative of the other ways her 2012 will differ from 2011. ““I think my goal for the next couple of years would be to make departures in little ways and do things a little differently,” she says, “and try to maintain a balance between always providing your fans with what they’ve always liked from you and continuing to write all my own songs.”
That sounds like the resolution of a woman planning to put out new music next year.

Country superstar tells MTV News that 2012 project has 'a theme.'

This year proved to be another amazing one for Taylor Swift. She just wrapped up the U.S. leg of her Speak Now Tour, released her new Wonderstruck perfume and unveiled her video for "Ours." But now, Swift has her sights set on an even bigger 2012.

Swift is gearing up to release her fourth album, and in an October interview, she revealed that her new songs were not about "moving on." So when MTV News caught up with the country star at the Billboard Women in Music event, we had to ask which emotions were triggering such a personal album.

"I can't tell you, because it's a secret," Swift teased. "It will be unveiled when it all comes out, because they all seem to have a theme to them, the records that we've put out so far, and this one is no different. It's very different in what it's about, but it's no different in the fact that it has its own name." Swift was on hand at the event with another honoree, Nicki Minaj, who is also set to release her new album in 2012, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.

"I love her," Swift said of Minaj. "One of my favorite moments of the tour was when she came out at the Staples Center and sang 'Super Bass' with me, which was, like, the coolest thing. It was like a dream come true, so it's amazing to get to run into her and see her around, and I'm just such a fan."

So would Swift possibly collaborate with Minaj on her next album? "I mean, we're not working on anything right now," Swift said. "But I would love to at some point. That would be amazing."

==Songwriting style==
Swift's lyrics are highly autobiographical; she has said that "If you listen to my albums, it’s like reading my diary."{{cite news |url=http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/06/t-magazine/womens-fashion/06well-swift.html?hp |title=Little Miss Sunshine |author=Lynn Hirschberg |date=December 3, 2009 |work=New York Times}} For example, the song "Forever & Always" was inspired by her relationship with [[Joe Jonas]], while the song "Hey Stephen" was written about a boy whom she toured with in the past. "Fifteen" was written about her freshman year of high school. It has been said that her lyrics "can be tinged with acid: the quiet loner girl getting one over on the cheerleaders, or a caustic payback for the boy who dumped her."{{cite news |url=http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/you/article-1222172/Taylor-Swift--meteoric-rise-pops-brightest-new-star.html |title=Taylor Swift – the meteoric rise of pop's brightest new star|author=Benji Wilson |date=October 25, 2009 |work=Daily Mail |location=UK |accessdate=2009-12-05 }} She has also indicated that she tries to write so her fans can relate to the lyrics, saying "My goal is to never write songs that my fans can't relate to."{{cite web |url=http://www.cmt.com/news/country-music/1591866/why-taylor-swifts-songwriting-sings.jhtml |title=CMT : News : Why Taylor Swift's Songwriting Sings |publisher=www.cmt.com |accessdate=2009-12-24 |date=July 30, 2008 |author=Alison Bonaguro}} She parodied her confrontational style of songwriting during her appearance on ''[[Saturday Night Live]]''; during her opening monologue, she performed an original song that featured lines such as "You might think I'd bring up Joe, that guy who broke up with me on the phone/ Hey, Joe, I'm doing real well, tonight I'm hosting 'SNL'" referring to her highly publicized relationship with Joe Jonas.{{cite web |url=http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1625788/taylor-swift-joked-about-kanye-taylor-lautner-on-snl.jhtml |title=Taylor Swift's 'SNL' Gig Includes Jokes About Taylor Lautner, Kanye West |last=Montgomery |first=James |work=MTV News |publisher=MTV |date=November 8, 2009 |accessdate=2011-01-09}}

The intensely personal nature of the songs has drawn her attention in the music industry.
